Lindsay Straw

As a performer, weddings and proposals are among my favorite gigs - I love providing the soundtrack for someone else’s special moment! 2018 marks my ninth year of serenading folks down the aisle, both at home in Boston and and all over beautiful New England.

Working with couples to design the perfect folky, acoustic playlist for their wedding day is such a pleasure. Here on my site you can find samples and a complete song list to choose from, plus I can offer suggestions and guide you through the planning process. My primary focus is on traditional and contemporary folk and Celtic music, but I also cover an ever-growing list of pop, classic rock, indie, country and Americana songs from the 1930s to today, as well as the standard classical wedding pieces like "Canon in D" and "Here Comes the Bride", all played on steel-string acoustic guitar. You can have me focus on one genre, or mix it up and play a little of everything. I'm also happy to learn your special song, just for you!

I primarily perform solo, but I occasionally play in a duo with mandolinist Jordan Santiago, as well as with my traditional Irish band The Ivy Leaf. I've worked with most of the major wedding venues in the Boston area as well as Rhode Island, Cape Cod, Western Mass, Connecticut, and southern New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.

"I recently had Lindsay sing at my our door, roof deck wedding. Leading up to the wedding she was very quick to respond to emails, offered great ideas and had a lengthy song list to choose from. My family, and my husband are from Ireland, therefore a number of the guests were arriving from Ireland. Her song list included a large variety of Irish songs, which was perfect for my cocktail hour. She arrived on time, allowed the Justice of the Peace to utilize her microphone/speaker equipment, and was a BIG hit! She sang for a half hour before the ceremony, then sang a beautiful rendition of "A Thousand Years" while I walked down the isle. She sang a number of classic Irish song to which almost everyone who knew the words sang along to, making the cocktail hour truly wonderful and social. I can not tell you how many people asked "Where did you find her, she was AMAZING!" in fact, just yesterday I was at a family birthday party and my cousins wife said " I could have listened to her all night" I think all attending would have agreed with that! Don't give it a second thought- if you are looking for a unique, beautiful voice and complete professionalism, look no further!!!

"As soon as I found Lindsay's music online, I KNEW she was the one I wanted to play our wedding. She exceeded all of our expectations. Her voice and her guitar skills are unbelievably beautiful in person. On the day of our wedding, we had countless guests come up to us to ask where we found her and compliment her music. Beyond being highly talented, Lindsay was professional, responsive, and incredibly helpful from the second I contacted her. She also rented her speakers out to us for the dancing portion of the evening for an incredibly reasonable price, and stuck around to help out with them, which was an amazing deal for us as we were trying to make our wedding work on a budget. She responded graciously to every one of my dozens of emails/questions about the logistics leading up to the day. As talented as Lindsay is, she could be charging three times as much as she does (maybe I shouldn't write that), and I would encourage anyone to book her for their wedding or other event!!"
