Summer 2023 Updates!

Over a year ago I asked photographer Zane Dumont to take some new photos of me for my website. It’s taken me until now to finally get everything updated to reflect my work over the past few years, as well as what is in the pipeline now!

This summer has been one of transition for me, and a pivot back towards music-making and teaching. There were many reasons I unintentionally took a two-year break of sorts - the obvious being having a full-time job, the less evident being some mental health struggles and loss of direction. (I may elaborate on those sometime, as I suspect much of what I’ve dealt with is relatable to many.)

But what better way to get un-lost than to retrace your steps? I’ve spent the last month taking stock and reflecting on what I’ve done over the last decade. Deciding what I’d like to keep alive or let go of, and what I’d like to pull out of the attic and dust off. I think my website finally reflects the full scope of my professional musical self - the folkie, the teacher, the wedding musician, and the guitar nerd.

Here’s what I’m doing now:

  • Transcribing my demo tunes and arrangements that people have expressed interest in. You can find the first couple on flat.io.

  • I’ve been taking the songs that sustained me through the last few years and working them into arrangements to perform and take to jams.

  • I’ve been doing some gigs!

  • I’m gearing up for Zoukology 2024 and planning workshops and classes I’d like to teach.

  • I’m even (she says quietly) writing some songs. With words. We’ll see if those see the light of day!

In addition to opening my schedule for private lessons and gigs, I’m also hoping to continue on the podcast and production journey I started while at TNAG. I’m working on some voiceover submissions, and if anyone needs production assistance, please reach out!

The lead photo in this post and my main site photos were shot by the amazing Zane Dumont. Nashville folks, if you need a portrait photographer (or cinematographer), he's the guy!
